Stotram recitals for Puruṣottama-vrata

Stotram recitals for Puruṣottama-vrata

All glories to Śrī Guru and Śrī Gaurāṅga! Jaya Jagannātha!

I want to tell you about the little online program we're doing for this month of Puruṣottama.

Every morning at 6AM India time we're singing this set of stotrams: Śrī Gurvaṣṭakam, Śrī Prabhupāda-padma-stavakaḥ, Śrī Ṣaḍ-gosvāmyaṣṭakam, Śrī Gadādharāṣṭakam, Śrī Śacī-sūnvaṣṭakam, Śrī Rādhikāṣṭakam (by Śrīla Raghunātha dāsa Gosvāmī), Śrī Jagannāthāṣṭakam, and Śrī Caurāgragaṇya-puruṣāṣṭakam.

Śrī Gadādharāṣṭakam is written by Śrīla Svarūpa Dāmodara and Śrī Śacī-sūnvaṣṭakam and Śrī Rādhikāṣṭakam is written by Śrīla Raghunātha dāsa Gosvāmī, so I thought that might be a nice combination. I was hoping to select a set of kirtans that would bring out a mood of Mahāprabhu's pastimes in Puruṣottama-kṣetra, Jagannātha Purī.

In this stotram program, I share the words in Roman transliteration, Bengali and Devanagari on my screen. Since I'm trying to fit in so much on the screen, there isn't room for the translations, so I just now finished preparing these stotrams with translations in these different languages so that you can know the meaning of what we're singing:

Below is the video of this morning's session. You can skip to the middle to find the stotram part:

I was pleasantly surprised by how many people joined this morning! I've found that the only way I actually make it through a vrata is if I do it with others, so I'm very grateful for this opportunity. I hope you'd like to join!

Or you can follow along on my personal YouTube channel. If you'd like to receive the links for YouTube and Zoom fifteen minutes before I start each day, you can join the Daily Japa & Kirtan WhatsApp group.

This morning, in the reading program that we have after the stotrams, I read an article by Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura and a class by Śrīla Bhakti Ballabha Tīrtha Gosvāmī Mahārāja on the glories of Puruṣottama māsa. Here's the replay (Again, I think it might start somewhere in the middle of the video):

Okay, that's all I wanted to say. I hope you have an inspired Puruṣottama-vrata!

Aspiring to please Śrīla Gurudeva and the Vaiṣṇavas,

-Madhukar das
